Job Description

Merchant Finance Pte Limited (MFL) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our Credit function as a Credit Analyst. The role provides high-quality analytical, reporting, and operational support to ensure credit proposals, portfolio performance, and regulatory reporting are completed accurately and in line with MFL policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the review of credit proposals to ensure compliance with the Lending Policy.
  • Conducting post-approval and hindsight reviews of loan files, monitoring turnaround times, and reporting exceptions.
  • Compiling credit activity and regulatory reports, including problem loans, SME, and large exposure reports.
  • Managing credit review master lists, updating credit grading and security values, and providing feedback to Branch Managers and Management.
  • Verifying PPSR registrations and following up on expired/missing registrations.
  • Preparing monthly Management Credit Committee and Board Credit meeting packs and drafting minutes.
  • Coordinating with RBF on approved assistance facilities such as MSME Guarantee Scheme, RBF Housing Facility, and Covid support facilities etc
  • Providing technical guidance to branch staff on credit policy interpretation and lending frameworks.
  • Supporting internal and external audits, regulatory reporting, and periodic policy reviews.
  • Identifying operational risks, monitoring policy exceptions, and contributing to cross-departmental projects.

To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Experience in credit analysis, lending, or related financial services roles.
  • Experience compiling and analysing management and regulatory reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
  • Sound understanding of Fijian market dynamics and industry structures.
  • Knowledge of RBF frameworks governing credit risk, lending, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements for SMEs, corporates, and individuals.
  • High attention to detail, professional judgment, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict timelines.
