For brothers Setareki Bilivanua and Ro Seru Bilivanua, success has never been just about business. It has always been about creating opportunities for their people, making the most of the land entrusted to them, and helping their community grow alongside them.

Raised with a deep connection to Kalabu in the Province of Naitasiri, the brothers have watched the area transform over the years. What was once a quiet settlement on the outskirts of Suva has grown into a thriving community, home to thousands of families, businesses and opportunities. As Kalabu continued to develop, they saw the potential for local landowners to play a greater role in shaping that growth.

That vision led them down different but complementary paths.

Through Forest Climate Investment, Setareki recognised the increasing demand for residential land in the Suva-Nausori corridor. He saw an opportunity not just to develop land, but to help create communities. His residential subdivision project in Kalabu is transforming underutilised land into opportunities for families seeking a place to call home. It is a project that reflects both his belief in responsible development and his confidence in Kalabu’s future.

The journey has not been without challenges. Like many developers, he has faced rising costs, unexpected hurdles and the realities that come with turning plans into reality. Yet his commitment has remained unchanged: to contribute to the growth of Kalabu while creating lasting value from the land.

For his brother Ro Seru, the focus has been on creating economic opportunities through enterprise. As the driving force behind Green Lake Investments, the commercial arm of the Mataqali Naulukaroa, he has worked to establish a business that can generate sustainable income and long-term benefits for mataqali members.

Through investments in machinery, transport services and resource-based operations, Green Lake Investments is creating a pathway for the mataqali to participate more actively in Fiji’s growing economy. For Ro Seru, it is about ensuring that the resources belonging to the people can create opportunities not only for today’s generation, but also for those who will inherit them tomorrow.

While their businesses operate in different sectors, the brothers share the same purpose. Both believe that development should create opportunities for people. Both understand the importance of land ownership, stewardship and community. And both are committed to ensuring that growth benefits the people connected to the land.

Their story is ultimately one of vision and responsibility. It is about two brothers from Kalabu who saw possibilities where others saw challenges, and who chose to invest in the future of their community.

As Kalabu continues to thrive and the Province of Naitasiri continues to grow, Setareki and Ro Seru Bilivanua hope their work will serve as an example of what can be achieved when development is driven not only by business ambitions, but by a genuine desire to create opportunities for people, landowners and future generations.
