For more than 15 years, Tabisa Koroi has been helping to keep communities connected across Vanua Balavu, Lau, through his commitment to providing safe, reliable, and accessible transportation services.
Originally from Mavana Village, Tabisa established his transportation business in 2010 with a vision of serving the people of his island. Over the years, he has built a well-established business that provides essential transportation services for students and passengers across Vanua Balavu, earning the trust of the communities he serves.
Through his carrier service, Tabisa transports school students and passengers along the route connecting Mavana, Levukana, Urone, Adi Maopa Secondary School, and Lomaloma Jetty. His daily morning and afternoon services ensure that students can travel safely to and from school while providing reliable transportation for residents travelling for work, business, shopping, and other important activities.
“Transportation is an important service for our communities,” says Tabisa. “Many people depend on these services every day, and I take pride in being able to help them reach their destinations safely.”
As demand for transportation services continued to grow, Tabisa strengthened his operations in March 2024 with the acquisition of a brand-new Isuzu truck. The investment has enhanced his ability to meet the transportation needs of the communities he serves while continuing to provide dependable services under his Rural Service Licence (RSL).
In addition to his transportation business, Tabisa has expanded his entrepreneurial activities through Nayavusa Service Center, a registered business that provides vehicle hire services.
Through this venture, he currently has two vehicles contracted by the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), supporting their operations across Vanua Balavu.
By providing reliable vehicles to WAF, Tabisa is helping the Authority carry out its important work on the island, enabling its teams to travel efficiently and deliver essential water services to communities. This partnership not only supports his business growth but also contributes to the continued delivery of critical services that residents depend on every day.
His ability to diversify his business while continuing to meet community transport needs demonstrates both his entrepreneurial spirit and his commitment to serving the people of Vanua Balavu.
For Tabisa, success is measured not only by business growth but by the positive impact his services have on the lives of others.
“I am happy to assist the people of Vanua Balavu by providing reliable transportation services that help them get to and from their destinations safely. Whether it’s transporting students, passengers, or supporting the work of the Water Authority of Fiji, I am proud to play a role in helping our communities stay connected.”
Through dedication, hard work, and a strong commitment to service, Tabisa Koroi continues to make a meaningful difference in Vanua Balavu—connecting communities, supporting education, and helping essential services reach the people who rely on them.
